Russian Economic University named after G.V. Plekhanov was founded in 1907. Over a period of more than 100 years, the university has always been closely connected with the national economy: the development of commerce and food production technology at the beginning of the 20th century, then the development of commodity science, the growth of the cooperative movement, the creation of state economic statistics and planning systems, economic reforms of 1965-1970 years, macroeconomic and industry research in the 1980s, promoting the formation of market structures in the 1990s. The scientific school of the university (academicians L. Abalkin, A. Aganbegyan, V. Mayevsky, L. Grinberg, V. Makarov, P. Bunich, V. Ivanter, V. Kuleshov, corresponding member R. Grinberg) has long been the core of academic economics communities of Russia. The high practical orientation of education and its connection with the realities of the economic situation in the country for many years have been a unique characteristic of the university. In 2012-2015, REU was enlarged by joining Saratov State Socio-Economic University, Russian State Trade and Economic University and Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics.
Currently at REU named after. G.V. Plekhanov training is carried out across the entire range of educational programs: from secondary general education to the training of graduate students and doctoral students. Training at REU is organized in Moscow and 22 branches located in cities of the Russian Federation and abroad. At REU, over 50,000 undergraduates and 780 graduate students study in higher education programs, 2,500 teachers work, including at the parent university - over 20,000 students and 580 graduate students, and 1,200 teachers work. At REU, 8,400 students study in secondary vocational education programs and over 400 teachers work, including 3,500 students and 150 teachers at the parent university.

The strategic goal of REU for the period is to build an effective multi-level system of continuing education in the field of economics and related fields of knowledge that meets the needs of the state, society and the individual, the formation of a university whose educational and research activities have wide international and national recognition and provide the resource base for its further sustainable development.
The specificity of REU is that it preserves the traditions of domestic education in the field of economics, updating them based on the requirements of the real economy and modern international standards. One of the strengths of the domestic economic school is the use of economic-mathematical and economic-statistical (econometric) methods for substantiating economic theories and decisions.
The advantage of the current educational model of REU is a combination of practice-oriented economic and management education, strong mathematical (statistical) and legal training and the use of information technology. Focus on practice is ensured, among other things, by the presence of natural science departments and a foundation of expertise in the field of commerce, commodity science, economics and enterprise management, as well as related specialties. In-depth mathematical training is ensured by a high proportion of disciplines that actively use economic and statistical apparatus and information technology.
Since 2012, REU has been included in the global university ranking QS World University Rankings. Over the past two years, REU has been improving its position in regional rankings (QS University Rankings: BRICS, QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe & Central Asia), in the international Internet rankings Webometrics, Alexa, 4ICU. The organization of the university at a high level is a fact. There is no such thing as something changing in the schedule and it not being communicated to you. The group was not bad, but the main thing here is to be friends with the headman, then everything will be ok). The teachers are normal, of course there are some who are especially demanding, but fortunately there are few of them. There are favorites too. Those that can captivate the subject and make you unobtrusively fall in love with it. In general, I am satisfied with my studies.
You can find a job without any problems with a Pleshka diploma. For example, I worked in the 4th and 5th years, but it was not full-time work. After receiving my diploma, I quit my job and began looking for a full-time job. I asked my friends, posted my resume on the internet, and literally within a month I had four decent offers, of which I chose the best one, where I still work. I am grateful to Pleshka for the opportunity to work at a cool job!
At my previous institute we were forbidden to work in parallel with our studies, so I had to leave there. I think this is stupid, because without practice it’s difficult to learn something, and I worked in my specialty, albeit part-time. As a result, I transferred to Pleshka. Here, on the contrary, they praise me for my work, and the teachers meet me in some cases.
I graduated from Pleshka several years ago. So let’s start with the fact that someone’s mother wrote that they weren’t allowed into the university without a permanent pass because they didn’t get the photographs, but why didn’t they get the photos? I read reviews about my native Pleshka and see that many people write that after this university it is not difficult to find a job. This is true, but I would note one more point: finding a job is one thing, but working successfully is completely different, and from my own experience I can say that after Pleshka there is enough knowledge to work successfully. But this, of course, is only the case when you really study, and don’t pretend.
In my opinion, this is the best place (along with Moscow State University) in terms of teaching economic professions. We have very strong programs that are not easy to overcome, but if you succeed, then I think you can safely work in highly paid positions.

We were transferred from Rgteu! We are now in the 5th year. We were clearly told that for the remaining year and a half, that we must study, we will have a fight for survival! In principle, we knew that we were not needed in Pleshka because tuition fees were too low! Of course, in Pleshka a year costs about 200-250 thousand. We pay about 70 thousand rubles a year. Well, excuse me, probably the rich students of Plekhanovka have very rich parents and can afford it! But here, as a rule, everyone pays for themselves - they work for their studies...
To begin with, I want to say that yes, for some period REU began to lose its position due to numerous rumors about bribes, poor teaching, etc. and so on.
But now, over the past year or two, it has begun to rise again - because the administration and the student council are doing everything possible to make our university better.
1. Admission.
Admission is like admission. There are no bribes (at least I haven’t heard of them), almost everyone is taken for a scarf, but still not on such a scale as in the same RANEPA. Additional educational activities are constantly conducted, both university-wide and for each faculty separately. The reception is arranged very conveniently - each faculty is in a separate classroom, everything is on one floor, there are always volunteer guys working who will tell and show everything. Recently, by the way, passing scores have increased greatly. Maybe due to the fact that most areas now require 4 items.
2. Building.
REU has 8 buildings, all of them are located in one place (almost a block, some buildings are still under renovation, one is administrative) Without help, at first you won’t understand the interweaving of passages and stairs, but you quickly get used to it. All cases are in excellent condition. Everywhere is under renovation, everything is beautiful and clean. Cleaned regularly. Honestly, when I came to REU I stayed here largely because I fell in love with this building.
3. Food.
Eat anywhere - in the numerous cafes around the university, or in the numerous cafes and food outlets in the university itself. You can eat whatever you want: salads, pastries, sandwiches, main dishes, side dishes... Recently you can order pizza and wok, everything is not very expensive, queues are like everywhere else

4. Educational process.
They study with us from 8:30 to 18:50. But the schedule is still not made by idiots, so there will be no schedule like “a couple at 8:30, then at 14:00 and then at 17:20.” I am at the faculty of the State Russian Academy of Sciences, and we study mainly from 14:00.
Teachers are different, just like everywhere else. For 1.5 years I had only one teacher, with whom we did nothing at all and, accordingly, he did not give me anything in terms of knowledge. The rest are completely okay. Some are simply wonderful. By the way, I was also lucky with English - I came across good teachers, despite this 1 couple per week.
We have a point-rating and modular system. That is, we study in quarters and 4 sessions a year (but this should not be scary, on the contrary, it greatly relieves the winter and summer sessions). The assessment is made up of: 20 b - attendance, 20 b - work in the classroom, 20 b - knowledge control, 40 b - exam/test. However, not all teachers give exactly the final rating; many evaluate knowledge in the exam.
Studying is light compared to HSE, but there is enough workload.
And yet, they still expel you from REU, but you don’t have to do anything at all. Some teachers (only one in my memory) still take bribes for tests/exams, but they do not impose them in any way; it is rather an initiative of students who do not want to drop out.
5. Student life.
oh, Plekhanovka is famous for this. If you are an activist, then you will definitely not be bored here. Everyone has something to do: volunteering, a sports club, projects, quests, a ball, faculty days, etc. There are just a lot of opportunities to prove yourself. In addition, there is a small gym, a swimming pool, sections for almost all sports, and there is dancing separately - free of charge and gives credit for physical education.
It seems to me that the sense of patriotism and love for one’s university is very developed.
In addition, in REU there is one of the volunteer centers for the 2018 World Cup, if you are interested in this, this is a good chance to try.
Medvedev also recently came to us, and in general there are a lot of all sorts of nice opportunities like meetings with famous people and excursions to interesting places.
6. From myself
I entered here simply because I passed on a budget, and I had never been to REU until the last day of the admissions committee. But I came there and fell in love with the beautiful building (after RANEPA and MGIMO it seemed much more modern and cozy to me). However, I was very skeptical because I had heard about scandals. But, after studying for six months, I simply fell in love with this university, my department, my direction and my group. I am absolutely comfortable living and studying at the rhythm dictated by REU.
In no case do I want to promote my REU or my GRTSI, but it’s just a shame to read about a second-rate university when you see that this is not at all true and that your university is developing and growing even though it is already 109 years old.
